Terry Fox Run KL 2009
Terry Fox, a Canadian young man who was very active in sports woke up one day not being able to stand up and several days later lost one of his leg. He was diagnosed with bone cancer and doctors had to amputate his leg.
During his stay in the hospital, he witnessed the sufferings of other cancer patients and he wanted to something bout it. That ‘something’ was what he called The Marathon of Hope…
He ran a marathon a day (42km/26miles) for 143 consecutive days with a prosthetic leg regardless of the weather. His dream was to run across Canada and collect 1 dollar from every Canadian. The 143th day was the last time he ran, he had to stop because cancer returns and spread to his lungs this time. He died several months later at the age of 22…..
but..The Marathon of Hope did not end. Terry Fox touched Canada and the world. From that day onwards, every year there is a Terry Fox Run to commemorate what he had done and to raise funds for cancer research.
I’ve decided to join Terry Fox Run KL 2009 at Lake Gardens on 1st November. Will you join me? All you need to do is just be there at 8.45am and run the 5km, there is no registration. T shirts and donations are available on that day.
